Nothing is more frustrating when excavating for a basement or garage then running into large boulders you did not expect. Trying to hammer on them or force them with your equipment can be costly and often cases impossible. Whether the boulders are buried, partially exposed, or sitting on top of the ground let, AMROC's skilled workers make the job much easier for you by breaking the boulders into much smaller pieces that can be moved out of your construction area. Almost always this type of blasting can be done without high explosives, which significantly decreases the amount of paperwork (permits, notifications, etc.) that we need to complete before starting onsite. This means we can get out there quickly and keep your project moving. It also means we can get much closer to structures without having to wrroy about damage from vibration or flying rock. In the past we have even busted boulders in an existing basement.
The process utilizes a hand drill, which is similar to a jackhammer, to drill small diameter holes which are loaded with a small charge. The charge is then compressed into the whole and when detonated the pressure from the compressed charge causes the rock to split apart. Boulder Busting |
